Week 9: Stories from Heavy Metal Response

Going about this week's topic I didn't really know what to expect when it came to what we'd be reading. However, after learning that we were literally learning about a whole different array of comics from different parts interested me. Throughout the whole list of comics, we would read, I think "Stories from Heavy Metal" was an interesting comic to read for this week. At first, I wanted to read it because the word "Heavy Metal" stuck out to me. But as I kept reading I noticed there were actually multiple stories in it from different artists which I loved. I was able to get a feel of multiple artists and read multiple stories as well.

The first thing I noticed about this strip of different comics was the art style. There was something about the details and fine lines that each artist used in the comics that really gave me a different feel about each story. Compared to other comics where they just draw the person and a little bit of the environment with just regular drawings this Heavy Metal drawings really changed the comic game for me. It definitely makes me feel like it's definitely more "Heavy Metal" like. It reminded me of the Heavy Metal animated music videos that use art styles similar to these stories. I almost wanted it to move and tell me the story.

Along with the art style, the stories themselves really caught my attention as well. It's literally exactly what you'd expect from something called "Stories from Heavy Metal". The monsters they used and even just the regular characters were these odd kinds of creepy lookings things. Which is often referred to when thinking and watching things that are Heavy Metal. It made sense and I really enjoyed it, because that 's the style of art that I like (even though I can't actually draw).
